Anthropology project

Using the Venn diagram from class that detailed the characteristics of humans and chimps, you're to create a project that demonstrates the differences and similarities of each of the species. Use the information examined in class as well as the movies and videos watched over the last week. The handout and rubric was distributed early last week. Use that as reference whenever you need to for direction and clarification.

The Journey of Man

We will begin by understanding how humanity started and spread throughout the world. We will be watching 'The Journey of Man". Through the use of DNA, this documentary examines humanity's journey from the southern parts of Africa out and into the rest of the world. It attempts to answer the questions of why humanity left Africa in the first place and studies the waves of emigration of our species. It looks at the 'Quantum Leap' in Human understanding and how that affected our species. It is invaluable in the attempt to get a better grip on where we come from and using that where we may go from here.

Why Study Anthropology?

We started the class by studying and understanding why we need to ask questions. With out asking questions humanity stops thinking. That's how we think. We want to know where and how we came to be and use that knowledge to guide us into the future. Answering questions gives us a reason to be where we are today.
